The origins
Qwan Ki Do, a modern martial art based on ancient traditions, requires an appropriate structure for its teaching and dissemination. In 1981, its founder, Thày Chuong Môn Phạm Xuân Tong, set up an international organization to develop the discipline. Following the worldwide growth of Qwan Ki Do and the success of its competitions, an international federation was founded in 2012 in Toulon (France): the International Qwan Ki Do Federation And Associated Disciplines, with its headquarters in Canada. This federation manages and coordinates the competitive activities and development of Qwan Ki Do while respecting its technical and ethical traditions, under the supervision of the Founder Master. It reflects the fundamental duality of Đạo, a principle of Taoist philosophy.
Qwan Ki Do is based on a balance between strength and suppleness, speed and power, tradition and modernity, action and wisdom. These concepts are reflected as much in its technical dimension as in its administrative organization, whether on a small or large scale.
Its aim is also to develop and perpetuate Qwan Ki Do in terms of grade evaluation, technical programming, ethics and training. It is the only International Federation recognized by the Master Founder of QWAN KI DO, Thày Chưởng Môn PHAM Xuân Tong.
Objectives worldwide
Thanks to a solid technical and administrative structure, as well as the charisma of its founder, Master Phạm Xuân Tong, The International Qwan Ki Do Federation pursues three main objectives:
- Promotion of Qwan Ki Do: The International Qwan Ki Do Federation, supported by a solid structure and the leadership of Thày Chuong Môn Pham Xuân Tong, is actively working to promote this martial art worldwide.
- Recognition: Qwan Ki Do has won international recognition from prestigious institutions such as UNESCO, the Vietnam Olympic Committee and other organizations.
- « Sport for all » objective: The organization aims to make Qwan Ki Do accessible to all through competitions, training, seminars and regular examinations, thus promoting physical practice for all.
Sport for all!
The International Qwan Ki Do Federation organizes “Club Championships”, enabling a wide participation of students, even in countries with limited resources. These competitions give clubs the opportunity to gain international recognition, thus promoting democratic access to the sport.
Since its creation, the federation has organized several international competitions, including African, Pan-American, European and world championships, with landmark events such as the first world championship in Milan in 1994.
Bringing together over thirty countries and several thousand students, Qwan Ki Do has adapted itself as a sport, enabling everyone to test their skills in a competitive environment. The organization strives to guarantee access to practice for as many people as possible, promoting universal values such as loyalty, respect and self-improvement.
In conclusion
Qwan Ki Do is a traditional martial art that embodies a way of life that balances body and mind. Its fundamental principle is the harmony between physical strength and vital energy, with practice focused on health, safety and quality. This regular practice develops qualities leading to serenity, embodied in the concept of Đạo or Do, which represents the goal of this martial art.
Created by Thày Chuong Môn Pham Xuân Tong, Qwan Ki Do combines efficiency and tradition, the result of decades of hard work. Although it originated in the West and has its roots in Vietnam, Qwan Ki Do sees itself as a universal martial art, transcending borders.
